看護師の数
日本国内で2008年（平成20年）末に就業している看護師の数は約87万7千人で、2006年（平成18年）と比べて、約6万5千人(8.1%)増加し、准看護師数は約37万5千人で2006年比で、7107人1.9%減少している。また男性のしめる割合は看護師で5.1%、准看護師で6.2%と漸増傾向にある。 このように就業看護師数は増加傾向にあるものの、医療や介護をおおく必要とする高齢者の割合がOECD各国とくらべても極めて高いことや、比較的高度な医療を提供していることを考慮すると十分とはいえず、実態として「看護師不足」の声があがっている。 2008年現在でのOECD各国との比較では、日本では人口1000人あたり9.54人の看護職（准看護師をふくむ）が就業しており、同年のデータがある18か国の平均の8.34人(より多くの国のデータがふくまれる2008年の2007年、2006年の平均は約9人である。)をややうわ回っている。 大阪でお見合い
